Oomph Web Engineers are a key member of the company’s Engineering team with responsibility for developing and delivering enterprise-level websites and web applications on the WordPress and Drupal CMS platforms. Web Engineers report directly to the company’s Director of Engineering.

Requirements

  • Experience building large scale Drupal or WordPress solutions
  • Expert knowledge of PHP and familiarity with both procedural and object-oriented approaches
  • Hands-on experience leveraging MySQL databases in PHP applications
  • Experience writing integration code with 3rd party APIs (REST/SOAP/XML, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of modern HTML, CSS/SASS and Javascript
  • Security, performance and QA minded; Writes secure code, knows how to test for regressions, has a plan to keep custom code performant
  • Experience building websites as a freelancer or within a small agency
  • Experience with Git VCS
  • Working knowledge of command line tools
  • Excel at problem-solving

  • Develop custom plugins and modules and patches for the Drupal and WordPress CMS platforms
  • Continuously break larger work assignments into smaller achievable tasks
  • Assist in level-of-effort estimations throughout project lifecycles
  • Embrace the company’s source code repository and issue tracking tools
  • Accurately track time in company time tracking system
  • Work independently and collaboratively to identify and solve technology related problems
  • Write and maintain Unit and Functional tests for custom development projects

  • Work out of Oomph’s Providence, RI office
  • Occasional travel to client meetings
  • Regular client and team interaction
  • Contribute Engineering related content to Oomph’s blog
  • Actively participate in open source communities
